Ellyse in the best-of-Chardonnay list 2018
Chardonnay is on the rise in Australia as wine lovers discover the new style of Chardonnay; a lighter, sophisticated and more elegant style of wine. By picking fruit earlier and having a more ‘hands-off’ approach, Chardonnay has enjoyed another, well-deserved resurgence and today, accounts for more than half of Australia’s white wine.
Here at Austins we are proud to say that our Chardonnay’s are turning heads and being discovered by wine critics and wine lovers alike.
Our newly released 2015 Ellyse Chardonnay made the best-of-Chardonnay 2018 list by Wine Companion and was awarded 97 points, our highest rating yet!
ELLYSE CHARDONNAY 2015
Wine Companion Rating by James Halliday
Rating 97 (9 =Exceptional. Wines that have won major trophy/trophies in important wine shows, or are of that standard)
Named after the first grandchild of Pam and Richard Austin, Ellyse is made only in the best vintages. Hand-picked, gently pressed, fermented in French oak, a barrel selection made after 9 months. This is an exceptionally good chardonnay with a special clarity of expression, and even greater intensity and drive to its classic fusion of white peach, nectarine and pink grapefruit. Given its balance and wealth of fruit expression, it has no need for active French oak support, but course, it was barrel-fermented.

Wine Companion Score by James Halliday:
Rating 95 (Outstanding Wine of gold medal standard)
Wild-fermented in barrel, a small portion undergoing mlf, extended lees contact. An elegant wine, the wine making sensitive to the fresh fruit blend of white peach, apple and grapefruit. Thoroughly elegant chardonnay.

6Ft6 CHARDONNAY
We have also released a new product, our 6Ft6 Chardonnay. Although it is too early for a wine review ratings, our sales have indicated that it is a well received wine and we have seen people be converted to Chardonnay after sipping this ( so exciting!). We are currently ranged in independent retailers and Geelong Dan Murphy’s. If you want to see this Chardonnay ranged in your local, ask for it (this helps us a lot!). You can also buy it online and it is included in our sampler packs.
Cheers to Chardonnay!
