HOFEX is Asia’s leading food and hospitality tradeshow
I’m just back from a
week in Hong Kong which included being part of a delegation of regional
Victorian producers exhibiting at HOFEX 2009.
HOFEX is Asia’s leading food and hospitality tradeshow which this year
attracted around 1800 participants from 48 countries and more than
32,000 visitors, all from professional trades and businesses.
Held over four days from 6-9 May, HOFEX was a huge success despite the
impact of “swine flu” and the global financial crisis on international
and regional enthusiasm. There was strong interest in Aussie wine from
the Chinese market and there are certainly some exciting prospects to
follow-up there.
While in Hong Kong I was interviewed by Debra Meiburg, who holds the
prestigious Master of Wine title. Debra is an ex-pat Californian and
long-time Hong Kong resident who is a renowned wine educator and judge.

I rounded out the trip with wine dinners at Entrecôte (le steak house
francais) and Crown Cellars and then a busy three days promoting within
the trade.
